Artist Statement

I am an emerging artist living and working in Orange County, CA.  I spent almost two decades as a career professional in Accounting/Finance, but retired from this field a few years ago to pursue art.  Since then, I have completed several college courses in design, color theory, drawing and painting; and I completed the Creative Visionary Path (CVP), a twelve-week art program offered by artist, Nicholas Wilton.  I am also one of the founding members of the Art2Life Academy, a global art community that promotes the exchange and sharing of information regarding materials, techniques, and creating a sustainable art practice.

I consider myself a mixed media, abstract artist.  I work on paper, canvas and wood panels; and use acrylics, collage, pencils, oils and pastels.   My work explores the intersection of form, language, and visual perception through abstract painting. Drawing inspiration from both nature and architectural design, I incorporate geometric shapes and typography into layered compositions that reflect the underlying order found in the natural and the constructed world. Patterns such as growth, repetition, erosion, and balance inform my visual language, translating organic rhythms into structured forms.  Geometry in my work functions as a framework—echoing the symmetry of leaves, the cycles of landscapes, and the unseen grids present in nature. These shapes create a sense of movement and harmony, while subtle irregularities mirror the imperfections and variations found in natural environments. Typography is treated not as text to be read, but as a visual element to be experienced. Letters are fragmented, abstracted, and integrated into the composition, dissolving the boundary between symbol and shape.

Through this synthesis of geometry, typography, and natural influence, my paintings exist as meditative spaces where order and intuition coexist. Each work invites the viewer to engage with abstraction as a sensory experience—one that reflects the relationship between human-made systems and the organic world, offering moments of pause, reflection, and personal interpretation.
